266 fi****ms turned in — and not one criminal was in that line.
San Diego County Sheriff's Office ran a gun buyback in San Marcos last Saturday, handing out $100 gift cards for handguns and rifles, $200 for so-called "assault weapons." Five hours. 266 guns collected.
Here's what the press release won't say out loud: buyback programs have been studied repeatedly, and the research is consistent — the guns surrendered are almost never the ones used in crimes. They're estate pieces. Broken revolvers. Grandma's old shotgun that nobody knows how to operate.
Law-abiding owners are the only ones who show up to these things. The guy who used a gun in a crime last week isn't standing in a parking lot waiting for a gift card.
California taxpayer dollars funded this. San Marcos residents who chose to surrender their legally owned property got grocery store gift cards in return. And the agency called it a "success."
Meanwhile, any gun found connected to a crime gets referred out — which means the evidence that might actually matter walks through the door anyway, no questions asked, no charges filed.
That's the part worth sitting with.

A Democrat just apologized for believing in the Second Amendment.
Bob Brooks — a retired firefighter, union leader, and congressional candidate in Pennsylvania's 7th district — is now saying sorry for pro-gun posts he made on his own page.
His offense? Sharing a meme that supported gun rights. And backing the police during the 2020 protests.
His own party came after him for it. A local blogger argued he shouldn't be allowed to run as a Democrat because he once posted something favorable about the right to keep and bear arms.
Brooks has since walked it back. Called it "a few stupid things." His words.
Here's what he said on his campaign page before the heat came down: that he respects the Second Amendment and has been around guns his whole life. He also wants universal background checks and to close the so-called "gun show loophole" — so draw your own conclusions on where he actually stands.
But the story isn't Brooks. The story is what his party made him apologize for.
Supporting the Second Amendment is now something a candidate has to say sorry about. Remember that.
Which matters more to you — where a candidate starts or what they're willing to recant under pressure? Drop it below.

An Oklahoma principal charged a gunman - took a bullet — and the kids made him prom king.
Kirk Moore, principal at Pauls Valley High School, didn't wait for law enforcement to arrive. When a former student entered the building on April 7 with two semi-automatic handguns and started pointing them at students, Moore came out of his office and charged him.
He was shot in the leg wrestling the attacker down. Another staff member helped finish the disarm. The gun had already malfunctioned once while pointed at a female student in the lobby. Moore ran toward it anyway.
The alleged attacker, obsessed with Columbine, is now in custody. No students were killed.
Moore's own words: "We prepare for these events through training and careful assessment of the threats."
That line right there. Training. Preparation. Instinct. That's the difference between a headline that reads "school shooting" and one that reads "principal stops attack."
On Friday night, his students put a crown on his head. That's about as American as it gets. 🇺🇸

Democratic gun ownership jumped from 33% to 41% in five years — and it's still climbing.
That's not a typo. NBC News polling shows it. Wall Street Journal data backs it up.
The Liberal Gun Club, based out of Newton, Massachusetts, saw its membership surge 66% in one year — from 2,700 to 4,500 members. They blew past their entire 2025 training numbers in the first three months of 2026.
L.A. Progressive Shooters is running sold-out classes. New groups across the country are forming specifically for gun owners who don't fit the old stereotype.
The reason cited most often? The same one 2A supporters have been saying for decades: protection from government overreach. David Yamane, a sociologist at Wake Forest, says a growing number of Americans now believe guns "may also be to resist government tyranny."
We've been saying that since 1791.
When more Americans — regardless of party — reach the same conclusion the Second Amendment's framers reached, that's not a threat to gun rights. That's the argument winning.

Out of respect for Chuck Norris, flags weren’t lowered to half-staff. The flagpoles grew taller.
Chuck Norris didn’t die, he just ran out of worthy opponents down here.
RIP
