Hello everyone! I have an exciting announcement to share with you. As of now, I will be offering ONLINE instruction in conjunction with in-person lessons to a LIMITED number of students. This is a great opportunity for me to continue offering guitar lessons while I am spending the upcoming fall semester in Lubbock at Texas Tech University. Furthermore, this is a great way to continue lessons with students who are uncomfortable with in-person lessons due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are interested in online guitar instruction, please contact me ASAP. Limited spots are available! Thanks, and as always, Happy Picking!

Dear all students and families of students:

As many of you already know, I am attending Texas Tech University starting this Fall. Though this is an exciting time for me, it also marks the end of a chapter in my life. As you may infer, due to my attendance at Texas Tech I will be unable to continue guitar lessons in the Friendswood area.

I do plan on teaching in Lubbock while I am here. Therefore, this page will consist of some posts that may be irrelevant to my Houston audience. However, please continue to follow this page so that you can stay up to speed on when I will be back in Houston if anyone wishes to continue lessons.

As I turn the page and start my next adventure, I want to address everyone that has been a part of Tyler’s Mobile Guitar Lessons. It has been a blessing to have the opportunity to share my passion with so many amazing people. It has been an honor to watch so many of my students grow and reflect their newfound passion back towards me. I have made memories that I will never forget. Every one of you have made a special impact on my life. For these reasons and many more, it is with my deepest level of gratitude that I want to say thank you. Thank you for your patience, your flexibility, and your hospitality. But most of all, thank you for choosing me as your guitar instructor.

Thank you,
Tyler Worrell

Hello everyone!

Let me start this announcement by saying thank you to everyone who has made Tyler's Mobile Guitar Lessons a success. With your help, I have reached an all-time high number of amazing customers; far exceeding my expectations.

As the business grows and my availability becomes smaller, I feel that it is appropriate to make a small change in my cancelation policy. Moving forward, cancelations made before 24 hours of a scheduled guitar lesson will not have a cancelation fee (same as it has been in the past). However, cancelations made within 24 hours of a scheduled lesson will now be assessed a $10 fee in lieu of the standard lesson charge and will be added to the fee of your next lesson.

Due to a busy college schedule and new customers coming to me every week, my lesson calendar seems to be getting tighter and tighter. For this reason, a last-minute cancellation charge is necessary.

Working with all of you is a pleasure. As always have a great week, and happy picking!

I Found this video that illustrates how playing a musical instrument has great benefits for your brain. Very interesting!

After teaching today, I had some time to practice my blues playing. Over the course of my playing I have found that the best way to get better at the blues is to practice improvising with scale shapes overtop of a backing track. This is a very fun and rewarding way to get better at scales. I have many of my students use this method and have found that it is very effective. Learning to play on the fly trains your ear to hear the different notes in the scale and when they should be played. It's ok to make mistakes when doing this type of exercise (you may be able to catch a few that I made). Making mistakes during practice helps you learn to recover in a live setting, witch is very important. If you haven't tried this type of practice, give it a shot. I'm sure you'll have fun and get better in the process.
