Yes, Nazarene Baptist Church has been sold for $1.1 million dollars in a private sale. The new owners plan to keep the building with some modifications. The new owners plan to use the church as a small event space.

Not sure what Pastor Rogers and his congregation plan to do next. The last service in this building will be Mother's Day. A delegation of old members and former Green Pond residents plan to attend to commemorate this moment. Join us!

It's finally here! The Emancipation National Historic Trail Study is only the second trail in America highlighting the achievements and experiences of African Americans after emancipation.

We know families left many of the coastal areas of Texas and migrated into the urban cities. People are sharing their stories about migration after emancipation. College Memorial Park Cemetery is one of three remaining African-American cemeteries established in Houston in the era of racial segregation. Founded in 1896, it is located at 3525 W. Dallas.

College Park memorial is a historic African American cemetery. We have learned there are plans to create a memorial wall to bury people. Do you know any people who have people buried there? Let us know. Things are changing.

Did you know there are plans to install a new feature at College Park Memorial Cemetery?

Oh yes, it looks like the Cemetery Association has some plans. If you have people buried here, you should find out what that plan entails.

We understand that the historic marker has already been relocated. Descendants of the people buried here should be concerned and respectfully made aware of these plans.

Pretty soon what was left of the Green Pond(First College Court) community will be gone! All that's left is Nazarene.

The church is still up for sale as they are land locked. Unless they sell for 3 million, they will be like every other black church. No building and not enough money to rebuild anywhere in Houston. Looking at the deed, it appears the current leadership does not have full authority to sell the church.

Who is listed on the original deed and who is listed on the bylaws are two important questions to ask.

The College Park Memorial Cemetery Association had a ceremony highlighting a new monument as part of an eagle scout project. The association has been beautifying the cemetery for years.

Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robertson owns the land and works monthly with cemetery clean ups.

The cemetery near downtown has been around since the 1800's, but is falling apart, with headstones missing, broken and halfway buried.
