TSU SSHP held a burnout and workforce resilience seminar by inviting Dr. Kiydra Harris to speak on her experiences throughout pharmacy school, residency, and fellowship. She offered an interactive presentation where she asked students about how they currently cope with the stress they face in pharmacy school. Dr. Harris encouraged students to implement activities and practices into their lifestyle in order to become a more productive student and future healthcare professional. She shared the experiences she had as a new graduate and the importance of having healthy coping mechanisms to manage stress. Our members thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Harris’ presentation, as many of them shared that they are currently dealing with burnout.

TSU SSHP held a joint meeting with APhA and SNPhA where we had PGY1 residents from Harris Health System provide insight on their residency program opportunities, newly established longitudinal APPE program residency application advice, and other various topics pertaining to residency!

TSU-SSHP is excited to announce that we are taking orders for the widely anticipated SSHP WhiteCoat Clipboard presale. These clipboards are professional and will be needed during your IPPE rotations, 4th year APPE rotations, and career as a pharmacist. Impress your preceptor as you take notes with ease and have information at your finger tips during your rotations. We will be selling them for $25. The deadline to submit your presale request is February 14th, 2020.

Last week, the TSU and UH SSHP chapters had our 15th Annual Residency Mentoring Social! Students were able to participate in a round-robin networking event with local PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs. We would like to thank our keynote speaker, Dr. Jeffrey Wagner, for sharing his personal story of growth and offering encouraging words to our students. We would also like to thank GCSHP and TSHP for sponsoring this successful event!

SSHP at both the University of Houston College of Pharmacy and Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy have teamed up to present those interested in clinical pharmacy with our 15th annual residency mentoring social.

This is a unique opportunity for pharmacy students from both schools to interact with PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs from the Houston area!

We are eager to spotlight the importance of leadership as a part of professional development and hope our keynote speaker: Dr. Jeffery Wagner is inspiring to students, residents and pharmacy leaders alike.

Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences – PAI Video Students at Texas Southern University explain the way the Practice Advancement Initiative transforms us into the superheroes we really are.

TSU SSHP partnered with SNPhA and Pharmacy Initiative Leaders, Inc. to hold mock interviews for pharmacy students! It was a successful event that allowed students to prepare for potential internships, residency interviews, and post graduate opportunities. Special thanks to all of the pharmacists who took the time to give back to our students!

We held our 3rd and final meeting of the semester and welcomed Dr. Stella Kim from Houston Methodist Baytown! Students were able to learn about The Houston Program and opportunities in pharmacy administration.

SSHP will be having our 3rd and final meeting of the semester this Wednesday, November 13th at 5pm in Nabrit 301. We welcome Dr. Stella Kim to come speak about pharmacy management and The Houston Program!

Today, TSU SSHP participated in the National DEA Drug Take Back Day! We appreciate all of the students and law enforcement who came out to help!

To conclude Pharmacy Week 2019, SSHP brought donuts for the P3 class! We hope you enjoyed our pharmacist spotlights this past week!
