Come join our screenings of Migration and Borders screening series on March 22-23, 2019 at Rice Cinema!
ALL SHOWINGS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
For many months now, public discussions about migration and borders have not left the headlines of major media outlets. We recognize the significance and urgency of hosting public conversations on the contemporary migration crisis that pay careful attention to the experiences of all participants of the process of migration. We hope to create a space for discussion of the pressures and experiences of those who are pushed to cross borders and those from the receiving side. This conversation will be of interest to researchers, activists, and community members interested in the politics of humanitarianism, violence, nationalism, dehumanization, citizenship, and transnational flows.

Your paper or panel in Tokyo, 8/2019: reminder of upcoming deadline from host, Glenda Roberts (Waseda University), SEAA President> Greetings from Tokyo, where we are dreaming of warmer weather and an exciting SEAA conference coming up in August! So far we have 20 individual paper submissions and 2 panel submissions. There's a wide variety of topics, on China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and more. I'm very happy with the response, but we still have plenty of room for more paper givers/panels, and we very much welcome new submissions, up to Feb 28. Please join us for an exciting conference! I look forward to seeing you there~

Wondering what an ethnographic film even is? Here's a good start!
Do we even need to define ethnographic film? Before this year I never felt the need to come up with a clear definition for what counts as an “ethnographic film.” Constructing better pigeonholes only seems to be of use to the gatekeepers who g…
