There’s nothing like seeing the power of social skills in action!
Students in our Heights Intermediate class recently put the social skills they’ve learned in the classroom into motion during a fun outing to Tacos A Go Go! 🌮
From ordering with confidence to engaging in conversation and navigating group interactions, these real-world moments help build independence, strengthen communication, and create meaningful connections along the way.

We’re so grateful for the support of the Montgomery County Community Foundation, whose generosity provided Social Motion with a grant that allows us to create meaningful opportunities for our students.
Through this grant, two students in our Spring/Woodlands Teens and Tweens classes had their tuition covered 100%, easing the financial burden on families and making consistent participation possible. These students have been part of our program for quite some time, and it’s been incredible to see them grow, build confidence, and form meaningful friendships along the way.
We’re also thrilled to use the remaining funds to celebrate with our students at their end-of-session party on June 2!
Thank you again to the Montgomery County Community Foundation for investing in our students and truly making a difference in our community. 💙

Opportunities like the ones our students experienced at the Houston Rodeo help them practice social skills in real-world settings, from communication and decision-making to navigating busy environments with confidence.
These moments help classroom lessons come to life while giving students the chance to connect, participate, and build independence. 💙

One of the important benefits of game time is that it gives students the chance to practice the social skills they learn in our classes while building friendships along the way. 💙
From turn-taking and communication to understanding social cues and appropriate behavior in shared settings, these moments build confidence, support group participation, and strengthen relationship-building skills they can carry into so many areas of life.

From the classroom to Corner Bakery Cafe, social skills were on the menu!
Our Spring Branch Elementary students enjoyed a fun outing filled with opportunities to make choices, order food, communicate with staff, and practice everyday interaction in the community, helping build confidence and independence along the way.
Thank you Corner Bakery for hosting our students and helping create such a welcoming space for learning and connection.

Did you know some of the quiet heroes of our program are our teacher assistants?
These paraprofessionals work behind the scenes every day to help our classes run smoothly, from setting up classrooms and taking attendance to organizing and facilitating game time, often jumping in right alongside our students. Their support helps create the structure and consistency that allows teachers to stay focused on the lesson at hand.
They also play an important role during outings, offering guidance, support, and reassurance while walking alongside students as they practice social skills in real-world settings. Their presence helps make these moments feel safe, supportive, and full of opportunities for growth.
We are so grateful for the care, patience, and dedication our teacher assistants bring to Social Motion each day and for the important role they play in supporting both our teachers and our students.

Friendships play such an important role in helping students feel connected, supported, and confident. While social skills help build the foundation for connection, friendship is often where those skills grow into something even more lasting.
We love seeing the bonds that have formed among our Spring/The Woodlands Tweens. Watching students build confidence alongside real friendships is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Social skills grow stronger when students have the chance to practice them beyond the classroom. During a recent outing to Corner Bakery Cafe, our Spring Branch Tweens practiced reviewing the menu, ordering their meals, and engaging with team members to place and pay for their orders in a real-world setting. These kinds of experiences help social skills feel more familiar and natural over time.

April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to celebrate the beauty of seeing the world in different ways and honor the unique strengths, perspectives, and experiences of autistic individuals.
In our community, we believe social skills matter because they help build confidence, connection, and greater independence, creating opportunities to grow in ways that feel meaningful and empowering.
This month and every month, we are proud to support and celebrate autistic individuals for who they are and all they bring to the world. 💙
