As the students continue to explore the different changes of the season, they also enjoyed joining others for a "Fall" funday!

Today was an innovative day for the students. They dressed as characters in a storybook they created to perform in our "Production Lab." The students also created their own "Pumpkin" cookies and personalized candy bags for their "indoor candy scavenger hunt."

COME TRAVEL WITH US

We are SUPER excited that our Developing Curriculum, "Come Travel With Us", has been received well by parents, teachers and directors throughout Houston and surrounding areas.

"Come Travel With Us" is a yearly curriculum designed by TEC 4 Youth Academy for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The "kiddos" learn reading, math, science, social studies, writing, foreign languages and the arts through Exploration rather than through the traditional way of teaching.

Our curriculum includes "7 different theme lessons" that are at least 7 weeks long. The lessons incorporate "original" songs, dances, games and children's literature created by us.

Assessments are also an essential part of our curriculum that measure students' academic, social-emotional and physical development.

Stay connected to see where our Inquisitive Infants and Extraordinary Explorers will travel to NEXT time!

The students traveled to their last continent this week. Although they didn't travel to all seven continents, they really enjoyed their trip to Europe.

In the country, France, the students visited some historical landmarks and popular attractions. Their first stop was the Eiffel Tower. They were really amazed at the height of the tower.

The students enjoyed the movie, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", at Disneyland Paris. Then, they visited "The Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral", where millions of tourists visit every year. Before their tour, they were able to view a fun flim showing the cathedral in the movie.

The students were excited when they became "little artists" in France.

The flag was their first art piece. They were able to identify two of the primary colors within the flag.

During "Painting with a Twist", the students choose to paint the "Bible", to represent what the cathedral meant to them. They also made and enjoyed eating their own snow cones as they created their "Masterpieces."

Although clearance wasn't granted by the government for the students to travel to this continent, as our "Little Scientists", they were excited to explore Antarctica. In this continent, there are no permanent residents, countries or towns. Only "Scientists and Tourists" visit Antarctica.

The students also learned about the different animals that live on this continent. They created their very own circle penguins for their "Penguin Dance."

Our "Little Scientists" experimented with water. They thoroughly enjoyed the experiement; making their own predictions on which type of water would freeze first.

Utilizing their sensory skills, the students saw the difference in color as well as tasted the difference in the "fresh" and "salt" water. They were also able to feel the difference in the form of the water; before and after freezing. Antarctica, just like frozen ice, is "really cold."

Two of the students' father was anticipating their trip to Africa. The students couldn't go to South Sudan, so he called and told them he would meet them in North Sudan, "Sudan."

He also taught them how to say different family member words in his native language, "Arabic."

Dancing to the beat of the drums was the students' most favorite experience about the Sudanese culture.

During the students visit to Sudan, they explored more about their traditions and customs.

Focusing on directional words, "left and right", the students had fun creating their own "Sudanese Henna Hands." They were thrilled to see so many feet and hand "henna designs" at their cousin's wedding.

The staff at TEC 4 Youth Academy believes, "it takes a village to REACH and TEACH a child." This is why parental involvement is "key" to the academic success of the students. As they visited the continent, Africa, the students and parents were embraced with love from some of the other students' Sudanese "family."

Upon their arrival, they were greeted with an awesome dinner already prepared for them. The kids enjoyed serving themselves family style, one of their favorite foods, "Sambusas." Surprisingly to the students, they thoroughly enjoyed the "Sudanese Molokhia." It is a recipe with main ingredients such as lamb and Egyptian spinach. Who said "kids" don't like to eat Spinach?

What do you think?

Does it look like the students at Tec 4 Youth Academy have what it takes to become chefs?

As the students enjoyed creating their own "Biscoitos De Maizena", they used four of their five senses to explore the different types of ingredients within this recipe. The staff believes the students are great chefs.

"Os bolinhos eram muito deliciosos." ❤

Funday Friday

Our Inquisitive Infants and Extraordinary Explorers were super excited to receive their passports last week, to start their traveling adventures. This week as the students traveled to another continent, they discovered that Brazil is the largest country in South America. They were able to study some of the unique animals in Brazil's Amazon rainforest from "A to Z."

The students created "maracas", enjoyed dancing to the music and identified the different colors of the traditional "Brazilian Carnival Parade." They chose to dress as princesses and magicians once they learned that the attire for the parade was of their choice.

The students gave the chef "two thumbs up" for their delicious meal. The chef prepared a mild version of "Brazilian Spicy Burrito Bowls" filled with fried plantains, black beans, rice and a special sauce. Brazil was a fun learning experience and they can't wait to travel to their next destination.
