Happy International Yoga Day, everyone!
As an ICF accredited Leadership and Life Coach, Iām passionate about helping my clients improve what I believe is one of the most important traits for success & wellbeing in life and that is Resilience. Mentally resilient people focus on what they still have in the face of adversity and look for possibilities among the rubble. But, this awareness came to me through something else I absolutely love teaching and that is the practice of Yoga & Mindfulness mastery.
Though Yoga is known for the physical strength & flexibility it brings for many who are regular with their practice, for me it was fully a spiritual experience that shifted my mindset completely. I started meditation soon after my mother passed away back in 2008. It helped me navigate through the grief and burden I felt from such a loss. I started Yoga, when I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at age 40, in the midst of being a caretaker for my father who had cancer. Within the first few months of consistently attending classes, my flareups cleared as did the fog and anxiety that weighed on my mind. I was given a new set of mental muscles that gave me clarity and direction to move forward. This convinced me to become a certified Yoga & Mindfulness teacher shortly after, so I could give these same gifts to others faced with their own setbacks.
To honor the celebration of Yoga today, I express my gratitude for the Resilience, both physical and mental that Yoga and Mindfulness practices have brought to me and many others. Both have allowed me to cultivate the power of presence as a coach freeing myself from ego, judgement and fears, while giving my clients a set of tools to build their mental capacity and resiliency so they can thrive during their most challenging times.
