ARTS ALIVE! IS LOOKING FOR A PART-TIME, FUN, ENERGETIC, KIND, AMAZING TEACHER with a background in Early Childhood Education and a focus on Creative Movement, Creative Drama, Music and/or Yoga.

Arts Alive! is a play-based movement program led through a thematic curriculum in our 31st year!! We teach creative movement, music, storytelling and yoga classes throughout the Houston area.

We are looking for a flexible teacher who is confident in the classroom with small children and who can grow with us and learn our innovative curriculum. We focus on teaching infants to 8-year-olds; however, the primary population which we teach is preschool/early childhood age.

As a new teacher, you will be a paid apprentice until you are ready to “fly on your own.” You will then graduate to Arts Alive! teacher, with your own class schedule.

We are ONLY interested in educators who are looking for a LONG-TERM, part-time career opportunity — not just "a job." PLEASE DO NO APPLY IF YOU ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR SUMMERTIME OR TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT. Most of our employees have been with Arts Alive! between 13 to 28 years!!

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required with a background in Early Childhood Education, Creative Movement, Dance, Music, Creative Drama and/or Theatre

EXPERIENCE:
Early Childhood Education is a requirement

Teaching groups of children ages 6 months - 7 years

Arts Education

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
A love for children

Professional, dependable, punctual, and organized

Strong leadership skills

Flexibility

Enjoy singing with children (vocal training not necessary)

Team Player

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
You must be ENERGETIC.

You must also have stamina to maintain and keep energized while teaching throughout the entire day.
You must be comfortable slithering like a snake, galloping like a horse and jumping like a kangaroo - - all day long!

You must be able to lift approximately forty pounds; We use suitcases to carry our equipment into our classrooms.

You must CURRENTLY have your own transportation. Travel is an integral part of the job. We are on the road everyday, driving to schools where we teach. Motorcycles, taking the bus, metro or ubering are not a choice.

OTHER INFORMATION:
Hours are somewhat flexible. Some classes start as early as 8:30am and some classes end as late as 4:30 pm. Working afternoons is a requirement.
