I’ll say it again, Sport Is Not A Job❗️
In 2007, Norway enacted the Children’s Rights in Sport act. Before the age of twelve, athletes in Norway don’t have to worry about keeping score at games, being ranked against other athletes, and lifting weights before their bodies are ready. These youth athletes get to do sports for fun and on their terms.

But What About Competition?

In the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, Norway won more medals than any other country. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Karsten Warholm of Norway beat his own world record to win a gold medal in the 400 meter hurdles. They have gone on to be consistent competitive rivals to the United States, China, and Russia.

Many specialists consider that decade-long experiment of changing the culture of amateur sports a success. After the age of twelve, Norway allows the kids to choose if they want to be in a competitive sport or not.
