✅ If you have a shower pan that is a mortar bed and don’t want to use the traditional vinyl liner method or use a waterproof sheet membrane then a liquid applied waterproofing may be your best move!

✅ It’s easy to apply, requires minimal tools and can waterproof your entire shower in just 2-3 coats. If you aren’t using a full foam shower system this could be your next best bet!

5 rules for tiling your shower ⤵️- 1. Get your studs flat. Use a planer or shims to achieve flatness and avoid tile lippage. 2. Using waterproof backer board in your shower will cut down on labor and with less steps to install also cut down on possible mistakes that lead to mold. 3. Using the right trowel size, making sure your tiles don’t fall off the wall is important but also making sure you’re not leaving air bubbles where mold and mildew can form is also important. ** the bigger the tile the bigger the trowel** 4. Using proper installation methods. Back-buttering, directional troweling, and checking for coverage is imperative! 5. Check for coverage- showers require 95% coverage on the back of your tile. Check periodically to make sure you are getting this. In the beginning of your tile project you can check your coverage and increase the trowel size if needed to obtain the proper coverage. Coverage will look like Rocky Mountains. Grouting quick tips ⤵️

1. Know what type of grout you are using. (Pre mixed, bag mixed, or epoxy)
2. Make sure it will work well for the area you are installing it (not all grouts are created equal)
3. Be sure to double check instructions for application no matter what grout you use
4. Always pre clean your tile before applying grout!

5 TIPS to tackle your first DIY bathroom project with ease 🙌🏼

🗺️ Planning: There is nothing worse than starting a project and it taking 10x longer than it should because of multiple trips to the store and wasted time. Planning can help with those last minute idea changes and help reel your budget in so you don’t spend an arm and a leg!

🧱 Source your materials: Make sure the materials you need are in stock, leave yourself some time to gather all your materials and place orders if necessary. Never start a job before all materials arrive.

🆘 Leave some room in the budget for emergencies: Things happen and we can make mistakes. Save up a few bucks to call in a plumber or other trades in the event something goes wrong like a pipe burst or any unforeseen circumstance.

😷 Use protection around your home: plastic, drop cloths, and extra ventilation are necessary for minimizing the dust exposure from remodeling a bathroom. Make sure to change out your air filter weekly during a project like this. I like to buy the cheap ones and just keep replacing until I see a cleaner filter.

📈 Follow industry standards for building and tiling your bathroom. This may come as a surprise but not everything you see on YouTube is correct. Fact check your information and make sure you’re following up to date industry standards.
