Anybody else ever found themselves as a part of one of these statistics?

Well since being a proud member of the 66% a few years back I have been racking my brain to figure out solutions to these stats.

You know is all about being educator first. So, with you in mind I created a climate improvement calendar to help to reverse these statistics.

Thumbs up 👍🏽 OR Thumbs down 👎🏽 : What do you think of a done for you planner of events and efforts that will help to turn your campus climate in a positive direction?

I seriously want to know what you think! Let me know in the comments 👇🏾

Be encouraged and remember you have something to be grateful for everyday.

Sometimes it is so easy to for us to get wrapped up in what we have going on and the issues we are experiencing that we only focus on the negative. You have the power to change your circumstances to create the life that you want, if only you take full responsibility and make the moves necessary.

Maybe it's having to constantly manage students behavior.

Maybe it's trying to balance new initiatives that are creating more work and producing fewer results.

Maybe it's just that you feel pulled in too many different directions.

Don't let that stop you from being who you want to be. You only need to take a few minutes throughout the day to choose positivity and begin making a difference in your life and/or the lives of others.

You can do it. 💪🏽 And I believe in you.

If you want some inspiration on how to insert positivity in your day, check out my story and share a tip or two for others to learn about.

I'm here to help! Let's have a chat in the comments! What are you struggling with when it comes to staying positive this school year?

I’ve got 3 ideas to help you get started with supporting educator mental health ⬇️

1. Survey your staff. Before the year ends, take a moment to send out a survey that the staff, department and/or team can fill out expressing the glows and grows of campus, departmental and/or team culture and climate. This can give you some insight on areas that may need improved support.

2. Research or seek counsel. There is more and more information becoming available as it relates to educator mental health and the impact that it has on student learning. There are people in the field of education (link in bio) that are willing and able to strategize a plan and develop programs, resources and/or apps for creating a work environment that supports educator mental health if research is not a task you are willing to add to your plate.

3. Automate your solutions. Establishing a culture that supports mental health may seem like just another thing to-do for some school leaders. The solutions that are created by The Educator Help Desk are meant to make your job easier. Automation, via apps designed specifically to meet your campus’ unique need is the way that we do this. Our goal is to improve the way we “manage” being an educator making everyone’s experience in the field of education one that is smoother and frankly more enjoyable. This creates more space, time and energy for student growth and development.

✨Bonus Tip✨

Click the link in my bio for a free evaluation meeting to assess the current state of your campus and craft a plan of action that is unique to your specific needs. By the end of our meeting you will have options to automate your solutions and improve the workflow of all your professional stakeholders.

💡Guess the percentage of time that educators feel work is “often” or “always” stressful.

According to a survey conducted by the American Federation of Teachers and Badass Teachers Association in 2017, educators find their job to be “often” or “always” stressful 61% of the time. This is more than 2 times higher than workers in the general public. With more than half of the respondents from this survey reporting that they have less enthusiasm than they did at the beginning of their careers; the likelihood of a mass critical teacher shortage is bound to become prevalent in all subject areas across k-12. Currently we are faced with specific critical needs areas and those reasons can be connected to lack of job satisfaction linked to sheer mental and physical burnout and competitive pay outside of education.

The mental health of educators is something that needs to become an initiative that we all work collectively towards supporting if we want to retain our best educators. Our work conditions can take a major toll on our mental health and have a direct effect on the learning environment of our students. At the end of the day we are human and there is only so much stress we are going to deal with before the cost exceeds the benefit and we are forced to leave education as a whole.

The Educator Help Desk is here to support educators by developing custom apps, resources and programs to meet the unique needs of your campus making it easy to support the mental health of educators ultimately improving teacher retention, making all of our jobs easier.

Teacher self care needs to happen everyday! Do your mental health a favor and select at least one act of self care to do each day. Everyday can be different, but it’s imperative that you take a moment to love on yourself each day. Whether you enjoy physical activities or quiet meditative activities pick something that allows you to focus solely on you for a period of time. I won’t hurt to give this a try 🤗

Share some of the things you do for self care in the comments to give other teachers some ideas. 👇🏾
