Hello Hayes Elementary!
My name is Abby Shepherd and I am so excited to tell you I will be the art teacher at Hayes starting this school year!
A little about me: this will be my 14th year as an art teacher. I have taught 9 years in elementary art and 4 years in junior high.
I am married with two daughters, we have a boxer named Rosie.
I am what they call a "jack of all trades" when it comes to art, I love being able to do many different types of art like drawing, painting, working with clay, and many other cool techniques. In my free time I like to go for walks, cook, watch movies, and work on my personal artwork.

Our Hayes artists had so much fun learning about the Lunar New Year this week and making cherry blossom paper lanterns! They even learned how to write the word "spring" 春 in Chinese.

Katy ISD Fine Arts Department is happy to announce they have opened another virtual gallery for the Spring semester. This online gallery features over 500 pieces of art created by our students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.

More than 500 art pieces on display in Katy ISD virtual gallery Student art normally lines the walls at Katy Independent School District’s administration building, but until this month, there haven’t been any new exhibits due to the pandemic.

The Hayes Elementary Hawks are showing how they can work together to "Grow the Future" with this beautiful new art piece on their campus! Each student and staff member decorated a flower to be placed as part of the mural. Great job!

Presenting our newest collaborative mural with this year's theme of "Growing the Future at JHE". Every student and staff got to design their own flower to contribute to our growing "garden".
Big shout out to my awesome colleagues who helped made this possible!
