Happy Juneteenth🖤❤️💚

Yesterday Fuller Texas joined the JJ's I'm Me Foundation at Kindred Stories for a special celebration of “They Built Me For Freedom: A Story Of Juneteenth and Houston’s Emancipation Park”. The author Tonya Duncan Ellis read her book and hosted a Q&A for students about her inspiration, writing process, and journey to become an author. Right across the street from Emancipation Park, students learned the meaning of Juneteenth.

A huge shout out to Kindred Stories and everyone who made this event possible!

The 2026 Payton Lectures were a beautiful reminder that our faith is rooted in specific land and shared stories. While we took a deep dive into indigenous joy and biblical interpretation, we also took time to enjoy one another’s company— catching up with old friends, making new ones, and celebrating the Creator that sustains us.
