𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗗𝗮ḥw 𝘂𝗹-𝗔𝗿ḍ?

Daḥw ul-Arḍ (دَحوُ الأرض) translates to “spreading of the Earth” and refers to the day when Allah (swt) caused land to rise above the water, beginning from where the Kaʿbah is now situated. On this day, Allah (swt) transformed the Earth into a planet that could sustain advanced life for the advantage of human beings. It is mentioned in the Noble Qurʾān in the following verse:

بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيْمِ

وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ

And the Earth, too, He spread out

[Noble Qurʾān, Sūrah an-Nāziʿāt (79), Verse 30]

🐝 Get Ready for Spelling Bee Week! 🐝

Assalāmu ʿalaykum parents and students,

Dust off those dictionaries and start practicing! We are thrilled to announce that Spelling Bee Week will kick off on May 4th. It’s going to be an exciting week of friendly competition, vocabulary building, and school spirit.
Here is the schedule of events:

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲
- Monday, May 4th: Mock Spelling Bee
This is a "practice round" in the classroom to help students get comfortable with the format, the microphone, and the stage before the real deal!
- Tuesday, May 5th: Classroom Spelling Bee
The official classroom-level competition. Students will compete against their peers to determine who moves on to the grand finals.
- Wednesday, May 6th: The Finals
KG – 2nd Grade Finals: Held in the morning to crown our junior champions.
3rd – 5th Grade Finals: Held in the afternoon for our senior elementary spellers.

𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀
Review your word lists daily for at least 15 minutes.
Practice out loud! Remember to say the word, spell the word, and then say the word again.
Stay calm and confident. This is a fun way to learn new words and show off your hard work.

We can’t wait to see our students shine on stage! If you have any questions regarding the word lists or the competition format, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher.
