I learned long ago that the measure of an effective doctor is not just what they can do in their white coat, but also what they do when they're out of it.

I had the privilege of participating in a few community outreach events this weekend and was reminded of that lesson.

Being able to use my knowledge, time, and resources to serve my community is one of the reasons I opted to take part in primary care medicine.

So just know, with or without the white coat... this doc gets it done. 👌🏾

𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐬?

I have been in my new position for a little over a month now and it has provided a lot of introspection.

Often times we define our purpose by our profession. I have a stethoscope garnishing my neck, so yes ..by craft I'm a doctor.

Yes, I 𝘧𝘪𝘹 people. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨?

As I prepared for this transition, I prayed to God that he'd put me in a place where I could fulfill my purpose. 𝘛𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭.

I was blessed enough to choose a profession that would allow me to fulfill my purpose in the most literal sense. But I had to reflect if I was actually executing that purpose, each and every day.

In this position I touch hand and heart, not just others but my own. I hear stories, I listen, I speak. I help and I try. Sometimes I let my own sentiment sidestep me, sometimes by the end of the day I feel like I have no more to give. But God has always found a way to reset and refill me... and remind me of the purpose he gave me.

I'm blessed, booked and busy! 😂🙌🏾.
