It has been such a pleasure working with Janna, Adam, and Gigi! 😁
After 2 months of working with them, we have established a routine where the children continue to review old topics and learn new topics to maintain a good foundation and stay ahead. As a result they often times now finish their homework for the week from the first day!

Has your child been studying constantly and doing all their work but still getting bad grades on tests and assignments? 🫤

The struggle is more common than you think! Sometimes more support and guided instruction can be more productive for your child. They will not only get better grades on their homework, but also all the confidence they need to succeed on tests! ✊️

Hi parents and students!

I wanted to introduce myself and tell you why I started tutoring.

My name is Mariam, and I'm the face behind Tutor and Excel. The last few years of my life have been like a roller coaster and have truly shaped the person I am now. After getting married, going to college to study computer science, and having my very own bundle of joy, I thought I had my whole life figured out. However I quickly realized that wasn't the case! The more I delve into it, the more I realized although I loved programming and problem solving, it wasn't the right career for me, especially with my family obligations.

But I'm still glad I studied it because it gave me the opportunity to find the career I was really passionate about all along. I had tutored part time as a side gig to pay for my classes but quickly realized I loved working with kids and helping them overcome their struggles in math and learn the problem solving techniques that I learned in my degree. I'm constantly studying math in my free time as well so I can always be up to date with all the new methods they're teaching in schools.

I decided to tutor grades 7 to 10 because I feel like that's where I'm most needed and also where I started struggling in math myself. I know everyone has different struggles which is why I have options whether your child needs one on one support, or would like to be part of a small learning group. I love this career because I get to watch students become more confident and excited about math and I get the flexibility to spend time with my own family.
