Yesterday, one of my students experienced a breakthrough. Typically, he is content with doing the bare minimum and needs a lot of encouragement to finish his work. Over the past few weeks, I have been reteaching him the building blocks he missed in previous grades and incorporating manipulatives to help him better understand the material. Today, he walked into class and completed his work independently. He was thrilled that he understood the assignment and eager to learn more.

I share this story to emphasize that lack of motivation may not be the only factor if your child is struggling.
