For President’s Day Weekend, I visited the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas. As collective place of mourning, I appreciated the careful language used to take the emotional temperature of the US at the time of the tragedy. I also appreciate the academic approach and transparency they shared with the public regarding the investigative process. Check out my of the museum language in my story.

Happy Juneteenth! If you haven’t read Their Eyes We’re Watching God, add it to your TBR list. It is set in an all black community in Florida, one generation removed from slavery. It gives a rare insight into black community’s values, self governance, Caribbean influences, and independence in the early 1900’s. It’s also a love story, a coming of age novel and a celebration of female empowerment. It’s one of my all-time favorite novels. The dialogue- dialect. The narration- practically poetry. Not to mention, the newest cover is gorgeous! 💜📚
