A position trader buys an investment for the long term with the expectation that it will appreciate in value. This type of trader is less concerned with short-term fluctuations in price and the news of the day unless they alter the trader's long-term view of the position.
Position traders might be seen as the opposite of day traders. They do not trade actively, with most placing fewer than 10 trades in a year.

Common stock is a security that represents ownership in a corporation. Holders of common stock elect the board of directors and vote on corporate policies. This form of equity ownership typically yields higher rates of return long term.

GM stock has come under some pressure since it delivered strong Q4 earnings but warned of a cash flow hit in 2021 from a chip shortage and higher materials costs. An earnings hiccup in the first half of 2021 might delay the resumption of General Motors' (GM) dividend. Yet it won't stand in the way of GM's accelerated plan to invest $7 billion in electric and autonomous vehicles this year and $27 billion by 2025, with 30 new EVs slated for production.
GM is preparing to launch three new passenger EVs by fall, including the buzzworthy Hummer EV. By late 2021, GM will deliver its first EV600 commercial van to FedEx. So is now a good time to buy GM stock?

Scalping is a short-term trading strategy that emphasizes profiting from the volume of trades placed, rather than focusing on maximizing the capital gains on each trade. It got its name because traders who adopt the style—known as scalpers—quickly enter and exit the market to skim small profits off of a large number of trades throughout the trading day.
Scalpers believe that it's easier and less risky from a market volatility perspective to profit from small moves in stock prices rather than taking the risk of relying on large moves. This involves setting tight trading windows, both in terms of price movement and timeframe.
