Begin with the end in mind…

So, you’re ready to begin getting your photos and other memorabilia organized and
preserved but aren’t sure where to start. Now is the time to ask yourself a few questions
and evaluate what your ultimate goals are:

- Why do you want to do this project now?

- Who are you doing this for? Do you want your collection to be passed down in your family? Is this a legacy project or simply a personal one?

- What would you like the completed collection to consist of? Print and digital image organization? A digital-only collection? Print media converted to digital? Audio and video media transferred to new formats? Physical items to be documented and safely stored? Maybe photo books, albums, or prints?

- By when? Is there a timeline or deadline you have to get your collection organized? Do you have a plan for who will be responsible for maintaining the
collection - now? In the future?

- If you could wave a magic wand and your collection was completely organized and preserved, what would you want to see?

Once you have a clear idea as to WHAT your goals are, you are ready to create a plan to
get started.

During Week 1 of Save Your Photos Month, we are focusing on why your legacy matters
and how to get started. Sign up for free at SaveYourPhotos.org!

𝙿𝚑𝚘𝚝𝚘 𝚏𝚞𝚗 𝚒𝚗 𝟸𝟶𝟸𝟷! ᴀ ʙɪɢ ʜᴇʟʟᴏ ᴛᴏ ᴇᴠᴇʀʏᴏɴᴇ! 👋🏻👋🏽 👋

Now that we have started a new year I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to new followers and say thanks to those that have been supporting me.

My name is Lucia and I’m a certified photo organizer, memory keeper, and preservationist.

I think that having lived all over the world has sparked my passion for memory keeping and photos. I am a mom of 3 kids and a cute Cavalier dog named Charlie. Some fun facts about me are that I just became an empty nester this year and that I speak English, Spanish and French.

Organized Photo Memories was born in 2017 after living through Hurricane Harvey. I vowed to get all my photos in order so that my precious memories were safe from disasters and decay.

I’m an archeologist trained in the museum world and now I work with families to preserve their photos and memories so that they are still around for future generations.

I hope that you will follow along on this journey of preserving your photos and memories with me. Welcome and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions! I’m happy to help.

What photo organizing software should you use? There are so many choices out there!! Read my tips for choosing before you take the plunge!

When you choose photo organizing software, you need to consider a lot of things!

👉 Your comfort level with technology - Are you super tech-savvy or not? Can you download a program and use it to its fullest potential? Would you prefer a more automatic type of program? Would you rather hire a professional photo organizer?

👉 Your operating system -Do you have a fast computer? Is it a Mac or a PC? Some programs work on either system while others are made specifically for the type of computer you have.

👉 Your time - Do you have the time and the patience to learn a new program? Should you stick to an old tried and true program?

👉 The cost of the software - Do you go for the free program or the paid one? Is it a one-time lifetime payment, a monthly membership? How long has this program been around? Will it be likely to last for generations to come? Can you keep it up?

👉 Most importantly, your lifestyle - How will you access and maintain your photos? Are you super organized and can keep up with the maintenance or do you prefer a more automatic system that will do it for you?

After you take all of these things into consideration make your choice. Also, don’t forget that if this is too much for you I’m available for consultations. Just Click on the link in my bio.
