10 years ago God gave me a vision to write a book after witnessing something traumatic happen to someone I love dearly . It shook me to my core.

Of course, life would happen, and I put the idea to the side as I was trying to figure out what I was doing with my life . I was in between being a full time teacher and a part time hairstylist and photographer. I knew God had given me these gifts, but I wasn’t quite sure how to put them together. Still, I continued to pursue the path.

Life, marriage, motherhood and entrepreneurship almost wrestled the pen out of my hand again. But the vision never left.

For the past 3 years, I have been determined to get this book off of my hard drive and into the hands of the women I wrote it for. God kept nudging me to finish the process .

So I stayed up late , got up early, worked on it during my spare time and even multitasked at work .

The journey to completing this book has been such a blessing. It opened up my entire world. It finally solidified my purpose and HOW God wanted me to use my gifts. He wants me to help heal women’s hair and hearts. He wants me to tell their stories. So I shall.

My book “Hair Therapy” launches in July. I cannot wait to share. Stay tuned for details on the launch and how to get your copy.

This shoot is the beginning of a series that I will be doing to highlight the beauty of black women in their soft era and capturing the details of their lives . It was originally meant to be a Valentine’s mini shoot for clients . But I think this type of work is worth exploring a little deeper ! Stay tuned !

THANKFUL THURSDAY.

This year has been an all out adventure. And the fact that it’s almost over is beyond me😫. Like what is happening lol? Somebody said November must have had somewhere to go . And I believe them 😂😂😂.

I’m super thankful for the growing pains this year has brought my way … because the beauty in alllll of it is … I have grown!!! I’m super thankful for that.

Most of all… I’m thankful for my beautiful clients, frients ( my clients who are also my friends), silent and loud supporters… and those who have prayed for me or sent me words of encouragement.

This Monday is dedicated to giving birth to new and beautiful things . As women, we have the power to create so much . That’s a blessing.

Maternity Monday belongs to my client who has micro locs but asked me to create some weightless boho twists over her locs for her boho inspired maternity shoot. I agreed under two conditions. 1.) No products ( edge control or gels) would be used to create the twists. 2.) The added hair had to be light as not to create tension on the locs . We want to protect the integrity of her locs at all costs.

We were able to use freetress waterwave and outre expressions spring twist hair to get the job done . And she loved the outcome. So did I.

I don’t take all clients wanting a different look for their locs, but I can create magic under the proper conditions. Want to consult with me about creating a look for your locs? Book a loc consultation, and we can come up with a proper plan and style . See you soon!
