Dyslexia and Fatigue

Children with dyslexia may experience fatigue because they are working harder and longer than any other student in the classroom.

Please do not confuse their exhaustion with laziness or indifference.

I Wish People Knew…

Telling a child with dyslexia to “try harder” or “it’s easy” is not helpful.

Trust me, they are trying. In fact, they are trying harder than everyone else. Reading, writing, and spelling are not easy for them.

As the school year gets into full swing, I would like to remind or inform everyone that Dyslexia is very common throughout our population. In fact 1 in 5 people struggle with Dyslexia. This does not include other learning differences that are also commonly found with Dyslexia. Dyslexia also runs in families. If you or your child is having trouble with reading and/or spelling contact me. I tutor students who are struggling learning to read and spell. People with dyslexia are often extremely bright.

With the right type of tutoring and accommodations, many of the challenges associated with dyslexia can be overcome.
