Lakeside EHC met today at the fairgrounds for our October meeting. Business was taken care of with Dana, our secretary reading minutes from last months meeting and Millie, our treasurer letting us know how we are doing financially. We all have been very busy this last month with working various areas during the county fair and the Arts and Craft fair. Dana explained several areas of volunteer work we do that we forget to record. We made tentative plans for a project we are going to do as well as a workshop we plan to teach. Katie taught us a very informative lesson on colors. She gave us a color chart to help us remember all she shared with us. Rhonda showed us a Witches hat door decoration and Phyllis showed us the quilt she is making for her grandson. Our fall decorations of pumpkins and acorns were given away as our door prize. We finished our meeting with a brown sack lunch we each had packed and desert of a bundt cake, lemon bars and ice cream. Lakeside EHC is a fun group of ladies.

Lakeside members along with Park Heights members were certainly glad to have our volunteer helpers in the 10:00 to 1:00 shift on Saturday in the EHC Kitchen during the Hot Springs Arts & Crafts Fair! Millie supervised with Cat as her assistant. We started the shift serving breakfast and changed to lunch around 10:30. Afterwards we ate lunch together and celebrated Pat’s birthday today and James’ for tomorrow.

I am so proud of my Lakeside Extension Homemakers ladies and gentlemen who worked in the kitchen last night at the Garland County Fair. We gathered before 2 pm to start getting everything turned on, warmed up and ready for the kitchen to open . Lynn Paul worked the cash register and Marcia Lieblong Albaugh was shift supervisor. The shift ran smoothly. Everyone worked hard to have a successful shift.

Lakeside EHC held our September meeting a few days early....today at the fairgrounds. Janie Woods our club President led a great meeting opened by Doug Jane Hammonds and Phyllis Clark leading us in the pledge of Allegiance. We took care of club business, Katy Patton Weaver gave us an update our upcoming kitchen shifts during the fairs, and Jennifer Ingram taught us about how important it is for adults to do crafts. She gave us all a mood ring and a kit she had prepared for us to make a bookmarker. She inspired the creativity in us. Sally was our hostess and prepared a delicious "snack" of macaroni salad, vegetable tray w ranch dressing, fruit tray, and dessert consisting of a strawberry/cake coolwhip icing....and a banana pudding cup....yes i was joking about it being a snack. Janie Woods won the door prize. Today was early entry day for the county fair. Several of us helped with registration of items. It was a long, but fun day.

Lakeside EHC enjoyed our Summer Council at the fair grounds today. Janie and Louise manned the registration table handing out name tags we made at our July meeting. We were entertained by Jill singing and Charlie playing the dolcimer. Janie Woods , our club President, accepted our 3 star, gold star award for all the projects and activities we participated in last year. Crazy Quilters prepared a delicious quiche, fruit salad, and roll along with cake for desert. Dana Lambert received our Club Member of the Year award. Louise won a door prize.
