Lakeside EHC enjoyed our Summer Council at the fair grounds today. Janie and Louise manned the registration table handing out name tags we made at our July meeting. We were entertained by Jill singing and Charlie playing the dolcimer. Janie Woods , our club President, accepted our 3 star, gold star award for all the projects and activities we participated in last year. Crazy Quilters prepared a delicious quiche, fruit salad, and roll along with cake for desert. Dana Lambert received our Club Member of the Year award. Louise won a door prize.

Lakeside Extension Homemakers met today for our August meeting with 15 members and 1 guest. We started with doing our annual chili cooking for our upcoming fairs and then got into our regular business. Rhonda taught us great ideas about saving money during our grocery shopping during the leader lesson. Much discussion took place with great ideas and lessons learned from our members. We took care of several areas of business, had reports from different members on projects they have been working on. Jennifer is working on our Club Board to show what we are all about. Dana. Pat, and Janie showed us a picture of our Educational Exhibit for the County Fair, and Millie talked about our outing last month. With the upcoming fairs and the heat it was decided that we would hold off til fall for our next outing. Our County EHC board has an important meeting coming up and our president, Janie Woods , let us know things that will be voted on. Rhonda, Jane, and Marcia all had show and share. We sang Happy Birthday to Virginia and then had a delicious lunch prepared for us by Janie, our meeting hostess. . Rhonda won the door prize. It was a fun and productive meeting.

At our July meeting we made name tags for the “250th Celebration” Summer Council Meeting that will be on August 14th at 10:00 in the EHC Building at the Garland County Fairgrounds. Clubs and members will be recognized for their hard work over the last year.

Arkansas EHC is on a mission to change that. Their new statewide service project is all about reducing fabric waste by teaching people to recycle, repurpose, and repair clothing. 🧵♻️

Lakeside Extension Homemakers Eight members and a visitor met today for a fun outing for lunch at Harper's Harvest. We met, carpooled , and visited with each other as we drove out to Pearcy. We were met by a beautiful flower bed of zinnias, Daisy's, and sunflowers. Next very well made wooden benches, chairs, and flower boxes invited us to touch and check them out. Inside was filled with fresh produce, home made soaps and apothecary items, and crafts of all kinds. As "crafty" as our group is we are always looking for the next project for our group to make. The buffet lunch was waiting on us in the dining room area. Lakeside Extension Homemakers yall are the best.

President Janie delivered shelf stable milk that was collected at the Thursday club meeting to Area Agency on Aging last Friday. On Monday she delivered snacks purchased from club funds for sixteen children at Potter’s Clay. Our club’s mission is to help underserved children and older adults in our community.

Lakeside Extension Homemakers met today at the EHC building at the fairgrounds for our 1st meeting of the new EHC year. New president Janie Woods had a full agenda ready for us to discuss, Dana Lambert ,our hostess for this meeting and our secretary , taught a very good leader lesson on De-stressiing with Gardening. We were able to take care of all the items on our agenda which included organizing and correcting our yearbook, signing up for cleanup days, making decisions on donations, and job assignments for the kitchen shift s for both upcoming fairs. We discussed our Educational exhibit for the County Fair and have asked Jennifer to update our Club Exhibit. We decided on a fun outing for next week and chose Dana as our Lakeside Member of the year. We recited the EHC Creed and Prayer and then enjoyed a delicious "light" lunch of fruit cup, a salad garnished with grilled or baked chicken or ham, and a multi layered chocolate, Carmel, cool whip, cookie desert. Louise won the door prize. To close the meeting our creative crafty members " showed and shared" items they had made this last month. Several helped work on the name tags for the County upcoming Summer Council.

Getting ready for our first meeting of the 2026-27 year this Thursday. A pic from 6 years ago came up recently and we were sitting outside 6 feet apart and wearing masks. Thankful we don’t have to still do that!

Lakeside EHC officers met at the Fairgrounds today for officer training. Other Garland County EHC club officers were there also. Alison Crane taught us some new vocabulary words....several we had to Google to find the meanings. We were treated to a wonderful potluck lunch provided by those who participated. We ARE ready for our new year.
