At our meeting today, Jacob gave a history of fire as a technology that humans learned to use for advancement. We continued to discuss this in the Table Topics. Fire has allowed civilizations to advance greatly, but also causes great tragedies like that of the Notre Dame Cathedral.

The Dalles and Hood River campuses are closed today (2/26/2019). Any on campus class or event that was scheduled for today has been cancelled. Online classes are still meeting unless otherwise directed by the instructor.

An excellent meeting today with 15 attendees. Club President Kelly introduced Hayli, who was an engaging Toastmaster. Nubia presented her Ice Breaker speech using a slideshow with photos, which was a fun way to learn more about her. John's Education Minute was about why it is important to stay in time limits. Kirah led us through some interesting Table Topics that allowed us insight you may never have known if you had missed the meeting. Jacob took on the Timer role. Yvonne stepped up to be our Ah Counter... her first time! Nadia provided our Word of the Day: Pragmatic, as the Grammarian and listened for language use. Tammara was our General Evaluator leading the last half of the meeting. We said Farewell to Judy who announced she is leaving the area soon for new employment.
A fine Toastmasters meeting indeed.
Join us on Tuesdays from noon to one (12:05 we actually begin) at the Hood River campus of CGCC. Room 202 is just next to the fireplace.

Toastmasters is an organization that allows its members to improve leadership and communication skills in a safe and supportive learning environment. In Toastmasters, you learn to think on your feet with impromptu speaking. Being able to think quickly is essential to landing job interviews. The Gorge Windbags club meets every Tuesday at 12:05 pm. Everyone is welcome to come stop by and learn more about the benefits of joining Toastmasters.
