Hi all,

I hope everyone is gearing up for a great summer! As some of you may know, the current third-year and past art history MA students created The Art History Club during the 2013-2014 academic year. The Art History Club was founded as a contact zone for a breadth of individuals with an interest in art history to assemble. As members’ levels of interest can range from casual to professional, the club functions as a platform to both introduce and expand on a variety of art history related topics.

The Art History Club’s mission is to introduce and promote the learning of art history among students and faculty within the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and with members in the community. Active participation in art history and art-related happenings and events within the university system and the Honolulu area will enable The Art History Club to achieve these aforementioned goals.

This coming academic year (Fall 2016-Spring 2017) we are looking for new officers and members to help the club continue to spread art history throughout our department, campus, and the local community. The chance to hold an officer position is a great opportunity for first and second year MA Art History students attending UH Manoa. The club is a great way to get involved with our department and start to generate networking connections within the university and the Hawai‘i art community.

Please let me know if any of you are interested in holding an officer position or participating in The Art History Club. We can get in contact at the start of next semester. For now, please enjoy the summer vacation!

If you are interested in reading about, writing about, or otherwise digitally documenting art happening in Hawaiʻi please check out this new website. It has been created for the purpose of collecting such digital materials into one place, with light curation. It currently contains three articles pertaining to art events happening, and happened, in and around UH Mānoa. However, the creators are open to anything and everything art-related that can be dematerialized and made into fodder for daily and nightly internet browsing.
