Well, all the votes are in and I got 32% to the incumbent's 62%. Not bad for a first time run with 65 days of campaigning. It took everything I had, but I am glad to do this. I met wonderful people, had a lot of support - just didn't get enough of the votes. Thank you all for your great enthusiasm for me and all your thoughts and prayers. November 2011 is just around the corner! LOL - Thank you all so much

Tomorrow, August 24, will be your Decisive Moment as you cast your vote. I ask that you vote for me, Rebecca Horner, in District 1 for School Board and say NO MORE to wasteful spending, empty schools, favors for the elite, and a deaf ear towards the taxpayer. Choose instead fiscal responsibility, public trust and honorable public service.

Unity through Community - Just think of what we could build in Broward with all students, teachers, parents, pastors and neighbors involved. (And I'm not talking about the empty school rooms or the construction departments). Vote on Tuesday for the SOLUTION, not for someone who has been part of the PROBLEM.

It is a responsible business practice to plan ahead, work from a realistic budget, and build accordingly. The emotional roller-coaster that the present administration has put our teachers on - by laying off hundreds a few months ago, then rehiring them days ago - is an outrage. Maybe it's easy to do this to 'human capital' (as they are referred to by their employer)?
