Little seeds, Big faith 🌱

Klaire’s summer science curriculum is all about insects and plants. She LOVES it. She has picked dozens of flowers to “study”, and we’ve housed salamanders, spiders, frogs, grasshoppers, and even a turtle over the last few weeks.

(Is anyone else picking up the Jason Letson vibes this girl is giving?? Wildlife Biologist in the making…)

Anyway, her project last week was to sprout beans in a jar. In just 5 days, they went from a bag on the Kroger grocery aisle to mighty little sprouts, ready for planting! Wednesday morning, she wakes up READY to go (hence the pajamas 🤪). She planted her beans in the back of our garden, prayed over them, and waited for Thursday’s rain to pass. On Friday, she goes outside to find 3 strong sprouts! She had NO doubt God would grow plants for her 🥹

The spiritual imagery here is so powerful. And her faith in Him is immense… it’s more lima bean than mustard seed 😂 I love how much God reveals Himself to me through this child.

Today was one of those slow summer days that we turned into a learning opportunity.

Our Kroger coupons came in the mail, so we took advantage and created a real-world math game. The girls had to find as many items as possible with the coupons, and however much money they saved, that became their lunch money!

They loved it 🥹 Simple pleasures…

I don’t want to forget their takeaways:
1. Groceries are EXPENSIVE. Coupons are important.
2. Stores are organized well to help us find things.
3. Coupons are specific. Follow the words, not the pictures.
4. Always check the date before you get to the cashier. Some lessons are best learned through experience… 🤪
5. “I need to get taller so I can reach the Pringles” 🤣

I wish it hadn’t taken six years of homeschooling for me to realize that summer break should be from April - June 😝 This weather is too perfect to be inside. We ventured over to Alabama to check out the Natural Bridge! ☀️🌲🪨

The bigs studied geography this semester and ended with a buffet of tasty treats from around the world! 🌎

The littles showed off each of the components they built in their collective project, a recycled town they named “LampLight City” ♻️

We also may have rescued three frogs and a turtle 🤪 On the way home, Kenna deemed it the “best day ever”, and she really meant it. The Lord is so faithful!

April LampLight 🪔
We finished up last week with a BANG! 💥

Science Experiments discussed how God would one day consume Earth and make a new one… so chemical reactions were made to see things “blow up”.

Bigs Bible learned how God is steady and unchanging.

Life Skills paired Bigs with Littles to plan meals and make grocery lists.

Recycling put the finishing touches on “LampLight City” after discussing community helpers.

Littles Bible recapped the 7 Cs of Biblical History and memorized the books of the Bible.

Worship: Journals were completed based on our theme chapter for this semester… Psalm 23 🐑

Holy Week is here! ✝️🌿

Today, we studied Passover with Matzah Monday. Fun fact: Did you know that the mixing and baking of matzah has to be completed within 18 minutes to avoid ALL leaven?! We tried 🥴😂

We were reminded of so many parallels between Passover and Easter! Praise God for the Lamb 🙌🏻
