This week, the HMS PTSO had the honor of gifting every middle school student a class shirt featuring their graduation year! For our 8th graders, we made their shirts extra special by including their class roster on the back. We also celebrated them with catered snacks on Monday and treated the 8th grade class to lemonade from Lemon Bevvy today!
As this school year comes to an end, we wanted to reflect on all that the HMS PTSO has been able to provide this year through the support of our families, staff, and community:
• Calculator caddies for the Special Education team
• A new flag for the commons area
• Breakfast items for the Science Olympiad team during their trip to State
• Teacher Appreciation breakfast and lemonades
• Catered dinners for teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences
• Refreshments for the 8th grade semi-formal
• Snacks and prizes for students during MAP testing
• Items for Survivor Games
We were also able to provide students with a fun and safe place to spend time with friends each month during our Kids’ Night Out events.
The goal of the HMS PTSO has always been to support both students and teachers. The PTSO was founded by Jill Carver, who saw a need to help bridge the gap between the needs of students and teachers and the support of parents and the community at HMS. Over the years, we have been incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received and proud of everything that support has made possible.
It is with heavy hearts that we share that the HMS PTSO will no longer be able to continue moving forward. Our current board members will no longer have students in the middle school, and despite efforts from both the board and the school, we have been unable to find new board members to continue the organization.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, donated, attended events, and supported the HMS PTSO throughout the years. Your support has truly made a difference for our students, staff, and school community.
