🌼 Homeschool 100 is back Tuesday, August 18! 🌼

100 minutes of FREE PLAY + a whole bunch of wonderful people from our Chattanooga community joining us!

📚 MEET A LOCAL AUTHOR + PLANT A ZINNIA
Courtney Park, the author behind the Cottage Creek Garden picture books (written as Zinnia Creek), will be joining us for a short story time followed by a hands-on take-home activity! Each child will get to plant a REAL zinnia seed to take home and grow. 🌱🌸

💛 SUPPORT FOR MOMS
Suzanne Decredico from Moms-Matter.org will be there to connect with moms and share about the support available through Moms Matter—including FREE online listening circles where moms can come exactly as they are to share their stories of motherhood without advice or judgment.

Suzanne is also a doula, longtime Chattanooga homeschool mom of four, and has taught Sign Language with babies and Signing to Read classes for more than 20 years.

🌲 GET OUTSIDE WITH FOREST FAMILIES
Darana Campbell from Forest Families of Chattanooga will be joining us too! Forest Families is a local nonprofit helping Chattanooga-area families spend more time playing freely outside through community meetups, education, resources, and support.

🌿 Homeschooling was never meant to be done alone.

When people first hear about MindGarden Learning, they often think of our Monday and Wednesday enrichment programs. But that's only part of the story.

MindGarden is a homeschool community designed to support the whole family.

Throughout the year, we gather for parent circles, community events, handicraft classes, teen activities, family hikes, and opportunities to build meaningful friendships and lasting connections. Whether your child is a toddler, a teen, or anywhere in between, we want your family to have a place to belong.

✨ Current Openings:
🌱 Saplings (ages 9–12) still has a few spaces available for this school year.
🧵 Handicraft Club (ages 7+) has openings on Thursdays from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM—a wonderful weekly class open to the homeschool community.
🌿 Curious about our Branches Teen Guild? Join us for our FREE Open House on Monday, August 17, and meet Guild Leader Miss Kim while learning about this unique community for homeschool teens.

WOOHOO... and also... WHOA! 😅

I'm so excited to introduce the teaching team for this year's Seedlings class! 🌱

When I began building MindGarden Learning, I knew that finding the right teachers would be one of the most important parts of creating the kind of community I envisioned.

Curriculum matters.

Beautiful books matter.

But the people who walk alongside our children matter even more.

I wanted children to be surrounded by adults who genuinely delight in them—teachers who notice their unique personalities, protect their wonder, enter into their play, and understand that relationships are the foundation for learning.

I'm so grateful to be joined this year by Miss Jessica and Miss Alana.

Each of us brings different experiences and strengths, but we share the same heart: to create a classroom where children feel safe, known, encouraged, and excited to learn.

Our hope is that Seedlings becomes a place where friendships blossom, curiosity is celebrated, and children are free to ask questions, tell stories, make mistakes, create, play, and discover the world around them.

I truly can't wait to spend this year together. 💚

Each month, we also feature a different local business, organization, or community partner, giving families the opportunity to discover wonderful resources right here in our community.

One of the hardest parts of starting a new class or school isn't helping children separate.

It's helping them feel secure enough to venture.

So often, parents worry that tears, clinging, or hesitation mean something is wrong with their child—or that they've somehow made their child "too attached."

I hope this video offers a different perspective.

What if those behaviors aren't signs of a problem at all?

What if they're signs of a child's attachment system doing exactly what it was designed to do?

At MindGarden, we don't see parents as obstacles to a child's independence. We see you as the secure base your child grows from.

Our goal isn't to rush children through separation. It's to thoughtfully build bridges between home and school so children can carry that sense of security with them as they slowly form new, trusted relationships.

When children feel secure, curiosity returns. Play returns. Joy returns. Learning follows.

Most of us spend a lot of time thinking about what our children are learning.

But how often do we stop to consider the atmosphere they're learning in?

Long before children memorize facts, they're making sense of themselves and the world around them. They're quietly asking questions like:

• Am I safe here?
• Do my feelings matter?
• Can I ask for help?
• Am I loved for who I am?

Those unseen lessons become part of the foundation every other kind of learning is built upon.

Charlotte Mason wrote that "education is an atmosphere." Modern developmental science continues to affirm just how deeply relationships and emotional safety shape learning and growth.

This is one of the ideas at the heart of MindGarden Learning.

One of the greatest gifts we can offer young children is caring adults who delight in them. 💛

I'm so grateful to have Miss Claire joining me this year. Together, we hope to create a place where both children and parents feel welcomed, known, and encouraged.

We share a deep love for the earliest years of childhood and a desire to create a place where little ones can simply be little—playing, moving, wondering, and growing in the safety of loving relationships.

Roots is more than a parent-child class. It's a place for families to slow down, build community, and better understand the remarkable children in their care.
