Life skills don’t always develop automatically—and sometimes the hardest part is simply figuring out what to work on next.

Saturday Resource Spotlight: If you’re looking for career exploration tools for teenagers, these are five websites worth bookmarking.

Career exploration is about much more than asking, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Students need tools that help them consider their interests, learn about different occupations, explore education and training pathways, and begin connecting what they enjoy with possible futures.

I recommend these sites often because they each offer something a little different—from interest-based career exploration to information about job duties, wages, education and training requirements, and future employment outlook.

And career exploration shouldn’t be a one-time activity. These are great resources for students to revisit as their interests, experiences, and plans evolve throughout high school and postsecondary transition.
