The description and symbolism follows: DESCRIPTION: A gold color metal and enamel device consisting of a shield blazoned: Per fess azure and or, in chief a demi-pegasus rampant of the second and in base an arch gules. Attached below the shield a biparted gold scroll inscribed 'WINGED SUPPORT" in black letters. SYMBOLISM: The demi-pegasus alludes to and commemorates the badge of the former 28th Division Aviation. The arch sumbolizes aerial protective surveillance and the keysotne in the arch refers to Pennsylvania, the unit's immediate predecessor.
