Attention MRHS Senior Families! 🎓✨

Utah College Application Week (UCAW) is taking place this week at Mountain Ridge High School on October 6th and 7th!

Our counselors will be calling all Seniors down to the Tech Atrium during their Language Arts classes to present essential post-secondary preparation information and connect students directly with college and university representatives from across Utah.

During UCAW, representatives will assist students with:
• College Applications: Submitting applications with live support.
• Parchment Setup: Creating accounts to send high school transcripts easily.
• FSA ID Creation: Setting up federal student aid logins so families are ready for the FAFSA.
• Admissions Questions: Getting direct answers from Utah higher education institutions.

This dedicated event provides incredible hands-on guidance as our seniors take their next steps toward college and future careers!

Latinos in Action (LIA) is proud to present Heritage Week at Mountain Ridge High School, running October 5 – October 9!

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, LIA wanted to create an inclusive week that highlights and celebrates aspects of all cultures, not just our own. We believe diversity is our strength, and we are excited to spotlight the unique aspects that bring our Sentinel Nation together! 🌎✨

Each day of Heritage Week will focus on a different aspect of culture—including Language, Music, Food, and Traditions—along with specific dress-up days and high-energy activities planned during BOTH lunches! 🎉

There will be free treats and prizes available during both lunches for those who participate! 🎁🍬

The Ridge Market offers a rare, high-impact educational opportunity where students learn real-world business skills by operating an actual retail enterprise. From supply chain management and point-of-sale systems to customer service and financial tracking, our students are gaining invaluable career experience right here on campus.

We are rolling things out strategically, which means this is just the beginning! Keep your eyes open for exciting new additions coming soon, including expanded fountain drink offerings, new Sentinel apparel, and special promotions.

Education is a cornerstone of empowerment. ❤️🤍🩶 Through the UCCU Assist Scholarships, Utah Community Credit Union, KSL Sports, and the UHSAA invest in the future of our community by supporting academic achievement during the high school Game of the Week.

During halftime at Friday night’s home football game against Herriman, two of our very own Mountain Ridge High School seniors—Abi Campbell and Sarah Gongora—were presented with the $500 UCCU Assist Scholarship!

🎓 Abi Campbell exemplifies leadership, collaborative service, and academic dedication. Abi serves as President of the National Honor Society, holds office as a Student Officer organizing school unity events, and has spent two years as a supportive Peer Tutor in our Life Skills program.

🎓 Sarah Gongora models empathy, civic impact, and academic excellence. Sarah holds a 4.0 GPA, serves as President of the Familia club leading initiatives to unite students across all backgrounds, launched a local elementary tutoring program, and is completing a technical license through JATC.

Congratulations, Abi and Sarah, on your outstanding achievements and for helping foster a culture of learning and growth at Mountain Ridge!

Yesterday was National Custodian Day, and we want to publicly recognize our incredible Head Custodian, Mr. Kevan Sprague, and our entire MRHS custodial crew! ✨

Research consistently links clean school environments with healthier students, higher attendance, and better learning outcomes—and Mr. Sprague’s team sets the gold standard every single day. Their dedication goes far beyond facility upkeep; they protect our school culture and ensure every Sentinel has a safe, welcoming environment to learn, perform, and compete.

🏆 CONGRATULATIONS COACH BRANDON BIRCH — 2025-26 UHSAA GIRLS WRESTLING COACH OF THE YEAR! 🏆

Mountain Ridge High School is thrilled to announce that Girls Wrestling Head Coach and Math Teacher Brandon Birch has been selected by the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) as the 2025–26 Girls Wrestling Coach of the Year!

From shaping minds in the classroom teaching math to leading our Girls Wrestling team to TWO-TIME BACK-TO-BACK STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS over the last two seasons, Coach Birch’s dedication to student success is unmatched. 🤼‍♀️🏆🏆

This award honors his extraordinary work, leadership, and positive impact on and off the mat. Because of his accomplishments, the UHSAA has submitted Coach Birch to the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) for Sectional and National Coach of the Year consideration.
