Midwives improve birth outcomes.

When care is continuous and relationship-based, both outcomes and patient experiences improve. A 2024 Cochrane research review found continuity models (care form pregnancy through postpartum) likely increase spontaneous vaginal births (66%→70%) and reduce C-sections (16%→15%), with more positive experiences reported across pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.

Parental is building a place to learn from expert midwives near you. Midwives on Parental are experienced birth educators and birth professionals that can walk this journey with you, from pregnancy through postpartum.

Looking for a midwife that meets your needs? You're in the right place. Sign up for Parental's early access waitlist (link in bio) to be notified first when we launch this spring.

DOULAS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE. 🤍
And not because they “replace” your partner or your care team. Doulas add something most birth settings don’t otherwise provide: continuous and calm advocacy for YOU.

Birth and postpartum doulas:
- advocate for your birth preferences (without pressure)
- stay grounded and provide calm when plans change
- provide practical comfort support (positions, breathing, coping tools, even braiding your hair!)
- help you feel less alone in the intensity of labor and early postpartum

If you’re considering a doula or another non-medical birth support advocate, here are quick questions to help you find the right fit:

“How do you support clients when birth plans change?”

"Which birth locations (i.e., your preferred hospital) do you have the most experience attending births?"

“What does support look like between appointments?”

“How do you work alongside [preferred birth location] staff, midwives, and medical providers?”

Save this post for later, and share with a friend who’s expecting.

If you had a birth/postpartum doula, let us know: what was the most helpful thing they did for you?

You can find a “tip” for anything on social media. But tips =/= truth. And ChatGPT? She's fun, but she’s never held a newborn.

Real education takes real experts.

The good news? Childbirth and perinatal educators have seen it all, done it all, and swaddled it all. They're professional birth workers, and they're joining Parental to bring their expertise to you.

Parental is building a place for childbirth education from experienced, verified professionals. No memes, no trendy trends, and no "hot takes" needed. Just credentialed and battle-tested experts here, friends.
