Dranesville Elementary School is a site for free breakfast and lunch this summer. This summer meal service begins Monday, July 10th.
Congratulations to all of our sixth graders and families! It was a beautiful day celebrating you! Wherever your journey takes you, BE YOU and know that you are loved!
Sixth grade teams of engineers used recyclable materials that would protect a raw egg when dropped from a significant height. It was exciting to observe the final tests of designs during the Egg Drop!
Thank you, Mrs. Lee Yang and Mrs. Petersen, for leading the learning about caring for our military connected youth and families, and to all of our teachers and staff for leaning into the learning to lift up our students and families! 💜
Our caring, curious, and courageous Dragons shared their hopes and goals on Career Day! The Portrait of a Graduate skills that they are learning today are going to help them achieve every one of their goals!
Friends, family, and a few of our favorite books! Thank you Herndon Fortnightly for helping our Dragons sign up for Library cards and check out books.
Out of the Box Day was out of this world as our creative and critical thinkers in grades K-6 engaged in the engineering design process.
Students created functional objects from recycled and reused materials. They were goal directed and resilient as they learned from trials and revised designs until they were successful.
Thank you, Ms. Morris, for coordinating and both MITRE and our families for volunteering your time to stretch students’ thinking of possibilities!
Congratulations to all of our goal directed and resilient Dragon Runners for their hard work throughout the Spring season!
This was the 21st season of Dragon Runners! Many thanks to all of the families and teachers who run with and cheer on our children every Tuesday and Thursday!
Special thanks to Mr. Gray who started Dragon Runners in 2012! Thank you for coaching and caring for our Dragons!!

Champions with caring connections inside of the classroom and on the field!
When a beautiful butterfly emerges on your birthday, it’s only fitting that you get to name it and release it!
Ready, set, flutter! Our 2nd Grade Ethical and Global Citizens have been working on promoting environmental stewardship by nurturing their Monarchs with milkweed and care. Their butterfly release was a wonderful celebration of growth!
