“I'm not a cop.” - That's one of the first things Megan tells students at our school assemblies. She's not there to hand out tickets. She's there because she wants them to ride with confidence and get home safe.
Her ask is simple: know the California e-bike laws, know your local ones, and ride like someone's watching. Because someone is. Younger kids in your neighborhood learn how to ride by watching you.

Picked these up this week 🔑
Three years of teaching e-bike safety wherever riders needed us. 3,000+ riders trained to date. Now we have a space to scale the impact.
It's empty and needs a lot of work, but I already know exactly what it's going to be. I'll share everything very soon.

New for 2026: if your child got a helmet citation on their e-bike in California, there’s now a way to get it dismissed.

Under AB 544 (effective January 2026), a parent can clear the citation within 120 days by showing two things:
ℹ️ A properly fitted, legal helmet
ℹ️ Proof their child completed a specialized e-bike safety course

That's exactly what we do at E-Bike Sense. Our hands-on training doesn't just check a legal box. Your kid walks away actually knowing how to ride safely, not just how to avoid a fine.

Can you get a ticket on a bike? Yes, you can.

This question came up during our recent school assembly in Rancho Cucamonga. Bikes and e-bikes follow the same rules of the road as cars, so that includes stopping at stop signs and red lights. In some areas, running a stop sign on a bike can mean a $500 fine.

Bringing these conversations into schools is a big part of what we do. When kids understand how the road works, they ride with more confidence, and parents can feel good about saying yes.

A quick safety check before the school-year rides. Two minutes now, safer rides all week. 📌 Save this.

- Helmet snug, level, buckled, every ride.
- Test the brakes before they need to stop fast.
- Rear light on so you see and get seen (and as of 2026, it's the law).
- Right tire pressure and a full charge for the round trip.
