The Arcohe School and Community Garden in Herald, California has been reclaimed with the generous donations and efforts of students, staff, parents, the parent club(APTC), community members, local businesses, and a local nonprofit. Our goals: To provide students with hands on experiences by growing, harvesting, and eating the food that is produced; To provide a community service by supplying food

for local needs; And to learn how to conserve water. Grade level appropriate lessons will focus on Science, Language Arts, Engineering, and Math Standards (STEM).

Our oak tree planting at Herald Park and Arcohe School was a success, despite having Sacramento Tree Foundation trees stolen from the park, water being turned off, etc.

Our community came together, thanks to the efforts of Herald Baptist Church’s Pastor Paul Smith, and several members, along with Hardy McKimmey for bringing replacement oak trees, Rocky Roberts for supplying the needed water for the park, and others, including children for helping to shovel and clean up.

Your community service and stewardship is truly appreciated! These oak trees will provide a home and/or food to over 2300 small animals and insects over their lifetimes.
