How do HVAC students learn what is happening inside a compressor?

Compressor operation can be tough to teach when students can only see a static image or hear the explanation. But when they can take the compressor apart, examine the scroll, see the motor, and identify the fixed and moving components, the learning starts to click.

Pressure matters, but temperature tells the story.

In this clip from Episode 3 of Visualizing HVAC Excellence, Ada Addams of EduControls explains why HVACR students and technicians need to understand the pressure-temperature relationship behind refrigerants, gauges, and PT charts.

Whether you are using an analog gauge, a digital gauge, or a PT chart, the goal is not just to read pressure. The goal is to understand what that pressure means in relation to saturation temperature.

Modern digital gauges may do the lookup electronically, but the concept is still the same: pressure and temperature are connected.
