Our Soft Opening was more than a first look inside a new building. It was a glimpse of what this space can become for our students, our performers, and our entire community.

More than 1,500 people walked through the doors, explored the PAC, shared memories, and celebrated this exciting new chapter for Hemlock.

To our performers, thank you for your flexibility and willingness to roll with the changes. While the PAC wasn’t quite ready for performances yet, you took your talents outdoors and still brought music, energy, and excitement to the day. We are so grateful you helped make our Soft Opening special!

To our volunteers, thank you for giving your time, jumping in wherever you were needed, and helping make the day run smoothly. We truly could not have done it without you.

And to our community, THANK YOU for showing up. Thank you for your excitement, your support, and for believing in what this space can mean for Hemlock for years to come.

This was just the beginning. There is still work to do, finishing touches to make, and so many performances, events, and memories waiting to happen.

But after seeing the PAC surrounded by people, laughter, music, and community, one thing is clear:
The future of the arts in Hemlock is bright.

🎥 Take a look back at a few moments from our Soft Opening.

Meet our final Drum Major Markus Plowden.

Markus is a 10th grader who is serving as Drum Major for the second year!

Main Instrument: Trumpet
Other Activities: Football and Basketball

As Drum Major, he understands that leadership is about more than standing in front of the band. It’s about being someone others can trust, representing the band with pride, and always striving to get better for the people around you.

We’re proud to have Markus leading the way and can’t wait to see what his second year as Drum Major brings!

There are moments that make you stop and think, this is what it’s all about.

Yesterday was one of those moments.

For the first time, our Hemlock Performing Arts Center welcomed the community through its doors, and our students had the opportunity to be part of that first chapter.

While our theatre and band students performed outdoors, they brought plenty of energy, talent and Huskie pride to the celebration. It was a pretty fitting reminder that it’s not just the building that makes the arts special, it’s the students, staff and community who bring it to life.

We can’t wait for the day our students take the stage inside these walls and fill this incredible space with music, theatre, and memories.

Yesterday was just the beginning. And we’re so excited for what’s ahead.

P.A.C. UPDATE

This past March marked two years since construction began on the Hemlock Performing Arts Center. After countless hours of planning, designing, building, adjusting, and preparing, we are excited to open the doors to our community on Tuesday, August 18.

Our Open House and guided tours will continue as planned from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, along with food trucks and our outdoor gathering areas from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We will also have Hemlock legend Carl Gippert on site helping us celebrate this milestone at some point during the tours.

And if people are still waiting for a tour at 5:00 PM, we will keep going. We want everyone who comes out Tuesday to have an opportunity to see this incredible new space.

There is, however, one important change to our plans.

Due to the current pace of final construction and preparation, we are pausing Tuesday evening's ticketed performance and program.

We were preparing for a capacity crowd, and with that many students, families, staff, performers, and community members expected inside the facility at one time, we need to be certain that everything is exactly where it needs to be.

The safety and well-being of our students, staff, families, performers, and guests will always be our highest priority.

We know many people were looking forward to Tuesday evening, and so were we. The performances will come. The celebrations will continue. There will be plenty of opportunities to fill those 670 seats and experience what this facility was built to do.

For Tuesday, we are going to open the doors, welcome our community, give tours, share some food, celebrate how far we have come, and give everyone a firsthand look at what has been more than two years in the making.

The show will go on. We are simply making sure the stage is ready.

We look forward to seeing you Tuesday.

Meet Drum Major Kaylee Burns

Kaylee is an 11th grader and is entering her first year as Drum Major for the Hemlock Marching Band.

Main Instrument: Baritone Saxophone

When asked what being a Drum Major means to her, Kaylee shared:

"Being a drum major means more to me than standing on the podium and conducting. It means leading with dedication and helping create an environment where everyone feels valued."
