That’s a wrap to the 2025-2026 Science Olympiad season! The Division C Team competed at state in Fargo today and came home with a trophy! These students participate in a variety of different sports and activities throughout the year and we are proud of the time they dedicate to STEM!
Shout out to Kyrik and Lily for taking 3rd in Rocks and Minerals.

Spring is the busiest time of the year! The chemistry classes displayed their knowledge of different chemical reactions by showing the elementary students a variety of experiments like the flaming student, alcohol cannon, burning candy, disappearing test tube, 3 color chemistry, flash powder, and pop bottle rockets. Meanwhile biology and applied science dissected sharks and stingrays to analyze the different body systems.

Physical Science and Applied Science students recently completed their roller coaster design projects. Using only limited materials—tape and paper—they were challenged to create a track that would keep a marble moving for the longest amount of time.
The results were impressive!
Applied Science achieved a top time of 26 seconds, while Physical Science set the highest mark with a 32-second run.

On Thursday, the JH and HS Science Olympiad teams competed in Bismarck against 7 other schools totally 24 different teams!
Congratulations to the JH team for qualifying for State in April!

Hazen’s HOSA chapter competed at SLC in Grand Forks for the past two days. Students were able to advance their knowledge in the medical field and compete in different events. The following students placed within the top three competitors in their events:
2nd place Medial Assisting - Madisyn
2nd place Nutrition- Taylor
2nd Place Surgical Tech - Haydn
3rd place Medical Assisting- Riley
3rd Place Patient Care Tech- Sophia

Congrats to the 2025 STEM Day winners!

The theme for this year was hunting and Thanksgiving. The events inluded hitting a turkey target by creating a marble launching device, launching a pumpkin candy cross the gym, eating a slice of pumpkin pie in the shortest amount of time, creating a homemade turkey call, and to work as a team to complete a puzzle and trivia.
