They need opportunities to discover careers.
They need adults willing to share what they know.
They need places where they can learn real skills.
They need employers willing to open doors.

And sometimes, they simply need someone willing to invest in their potential.

That is what we are working to build through NCYDC.

Our Future Builders work is designed to connect North County youth with career exploration, workforce preparation, training, technology, mentorship, supportive resources, and real-world opportunities.

And there is a place in this work for our entire community.

Welcome to the North County Youth Development & Training Center!

NCYDC is a community-rooted initiative based in Hazelwood, Missouri, committed to building a stronger school-to-career pipeline for youth and young adults throughout North St. Louis County.

We are developing pathways that will prepare young people for opportunities in skilled trades, healthcare, technology, career readiness, pre-apprenticeship, and other high-demand industries. Our work also includes mentoring, restorative justice, supportive services, and partnerships with schools, employers, unions, training providers, funders, and community organizations.

We are currently in the building and partnership-development phase. As we continue planning, securing resources, and developing programs, we will use this page to share our progress, community updates, partnership opportunities, and future program announcements.

Our goal is simple: to help young people gain the skills, support, connections, and confidence they need to move toward meaningful careers and lifelong success.

Together, we are building pathways, creating opportunities, and changing lives.

Did you know The Home Depot Foundation Path to Pro Scholarship offers $2,500 construction career scholarships for eligible students pursuing approved trade-related programs?

This opportunity can support students entering career paths such as:

Carpentry
Construction Management
Electrical
HVAC
Plumbing

Eligible applicants may include high school seniors, high school graduates or individuals with a GED who plan to enroll, or are enrolled within one year, in an approved trade-related program at an accredited two-year school, vocational school, technical school, community college or training center in the United States.

This is exactly why career exploration matters.

At North County Youth Development & Training Center, we are building a school-to-career pipeline that helps youth and young adults learn about skilled trades, understand career pathways and prepare for future training, certifications, apprenticeships and employment.

Skilled trades are not a backup plan. They are a pathway to income, stability, ownership and purpose.
