What an amazing piece of art courtesy of Nick, a student at Rising Stars Academy. Nick was part of an Urban Bee LLC lecture in September on biodynamic beekeeping. We love seeing how talented our clients are and seeing how excited they get about our pollinators! Thanks, Nick, for your dedication to our pollinators and keep up the great artwork!

Beekeepers scramble to protect hives before mosquito spraying begins
CLIMAX, Mich. -- The pesticide to be sprayed across West Michigan Sunday night will hopefully kill mosquitoes that have been spreading the EEE virus. But it could also cause some unintended deaths in insects very important to our food supply. The state says honeybees will most likely be in their hiv...

What an amazing past couple of days it has been! Got to experience two Urban Bee LLC clients in their element.
Thoroughly enjoyed seeing Ann Delisi host the phenomenal concert for Mike Ellison and The War and Treaty!! Sorry to Mike... the performance was so refreshing, innovative, and demanding that we literally forgot to take photo documentation! So much fun seeing the energy of these artists right here in Detroit.
Also, finally made it in to Mabel Gray Kitchen. Food so good you’ll start to question reality itself! If you haven’t stopped by yet, what are you waiting for?! Shout out to the entire team for doing amazing work!

When the mammoth sunflower begins to droop and her seeds begin to ripen, you know the season is coming to a close. Like the Golden Rod, this is a sign of the change in seasons. While the dried and dead foliage may look depressing and unappealing to the eye, we find it beautiful. It represents a summer full of hard work, which perpetuates the circle of life for all creatures. Only 15 days left to summer... How will you be enjoying the last days of warmth before the seasons change?

On August 3rd, I met with one of TWO Certified Spikenard Biodynamic Beekeeping Mentors in the entire United Stated; Eileen Dickinson. I helped Eileen with her hives and learned so much. Today, she wanted to tag along for some Urban Bee LLC inspections. What an experience!
PHOTOS: We checked on Joya and Journey at the Ann Delisi residence. Joya swarmed in early July. During the last inspection, Joya was eerily bare and acting naughty; she appeared queenless. Today’s check was to see if the additional week and half would show any signs of a laying queen. Today, we found what we were looking for, a beautiful TRUE queen, not even a month old.
We stopped by Mabel Gray and Patience’s house as well, only to find more colonies heading into Fall 2019 STRONG (Mabel and Sasha, respectively).
It was a beautiful day to inspect many hives on National Honeybee Day, all with a great teacher.
