In October, Director of Music Education Dr. John Eros presented a research poster at the 11th Symposium on Music Teacher Education. Dr. Eros's research focused on the use of Asynchronous video as a method for supervising music credential candidates (student teachers). in Indianapolis, IN.
Through the use of an asynchronous video platform, university supervisors (comprised of university faculty, as well as retired and in-service music teachers) are able to work with candidates irrespective of location. For example, an in-service from the Oakland Unified School District is able to supervise student teachers in Anaheim and Los Angeles, therefore allowing for mentorship in topics that are particularly relevant to urban settings.
