We love the outcome of a grant we awarded to High School Science teacher David Eckstrom for a SnapMaker 3D printer. The engineering fabrication system, which includes a laser cutter, engraver, and pin rodder, allows students to create 3D projects and learn the design process. HFEE awarded $3,197 for this grand as part of more than $400,000 to date.

HFEE was proud to showcase several grant projects awarded over the last 3 years at our Business After 5 event at The Lumber Exchange. Thank you to the teachers and students at the event for demonstrating the innovative and educational projects and equipment that HFEE was able to provide because of the generosity of donors in this community! Your sponsorships and donations truly affect the lives of all students in the Hayward area positively. Check out what we’ve been able to give as a result of your donations for students across the Hayward Community School District, HACIL Virtual Charter School, and Northern Waters Environmental School.

Business After 5 was a success! Thank you once again to The Lumber Exchange and Hayward Area Chamber of Commerce for coming together to make an event like this happen in the heart of Hayward! What an amazing building, and we’re more than grateful that they opened their doors to host our organization and share our mission, appreciation and future—positively impacting the wonderful schools in our community.

We're excited to share this wishlist donation request from Northern Waters Environmental School! So often, when students are learning out in the community, they ask to use their phones to take pictures, but then they get caught up in other aspects of their phones. Camp Snap screen-less cameras are designed to help kids stay present and tell the story of our learning at Northern Waters (field days, camping trips, projects, community service, etc.) without using their phones! And by engaging with their surroundings, there are tons of great pictures to document our adventures without the screens!

Special thanks to the generous families and Ameriprise Financial Services out of Hayward who purchased items off the wish list portal for Mrs. Petit's 4k Dramatic Play Request. Dramatic play is a crucial part of a young child's development. This play area will help foster social skills, literacy, imagination, and FUN!

HFEE is extremely excited for this event and opportunity to share with everyone what we have achieved since 1994!

There are a lot of ways to build in Hayward. The Hayward Foundation for Educational Enrichment (HFEE) has been working on one of the most important since 1994, and we’re honored they’ll host the very first event at The Lumber Exchange.

On Thursday, September 17, The Lumber Exchange will host the first event in the life of this building: a Hayward Area Chamber of Commerce Business After 5, hosted by HFEE.

Before our grand opening, before the ribbon cutting, and before this place settles into the daily rhythm we hope it will have for many years to come, its first gathering will belong to an organization that has spent more than three decades investing in Hayward's future.

For a place built around ideas, community, and looking to the future while honoring the past, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting first gathering.
