Whether it’s people, places, events, things, or even just ideas, we wanted to create a place where we could celebrate everything we love about where we live. We also knew that we had the unique position of seeing our communities from both local and tourist eyes, which lends a certain amount of perspective. For instance, Meg grew up in Cable, lived in Chicago after high school, and then moved back
a couple of years ago to further pursue her photographer dreams. Though she grew up in Red Wing, MN, Amber’s family moved here when she was 19. She has since spent the last ten years bouncing back and forth from the Northwoods to other glamorous places like England, Bruce, Wisconsin, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Last fall she decided to make Hayward, WI, her permanent residence once again. Since starting Girl from the Northwoods, we’ve played with different approaches on how to share our love of the Northwoods with the masses. And we’ll keep doing that, because if anything is clear about us by now, it’s that we we love to change things up. One thing, however, will remain the same: Our honest, unabashed, personal take on life in the Northwoods. Whether it’s daily snapshots, short stories about our trip to the local coffeeshop, in-depth interviews about that local guy you’ve always wondered about, or sharing Pinspiration on Northwoods style and design, we want this to be a place that makes us – and you – feel luckier for living here. Whether you’ve lived here your entire life or just love to come up here on the weekends, we’re glad you’re a part of our Northwoods.
