Looking forward to a great 2026-2027 school year. This will be year 18, and year 2 for teaching agriculture. I will also be teaching a carpentry class this year and I am really excited about it. With that being said I wanted to share our wishlist. I can not thank the community enough for supporting us. We got our garden beds built and filled with a few plants going in them. We will be planting some fall crops and doing broilers again as well as producing some woodworking projects. Thank you so much for your continued support.

From school to table!!! In case anyone needs chicken for this weekend, we still have some!! The students raised these birds at school and had a successful show season with them. Hands down way better than grocery store chicken….. split in halves, 3.50 a lb for a good cause….our students future projects!

Garden update…. Not much but a start! Lol just keeping our fingers crossed heat doesn’t kill it all in the next few weeks.

We are officially ready to take sponsorships for the Claiborne Classic Open Livestock show. Our expense have increased slightly due to adding more species. We will have a poultry and rabbit show. Claiborne 4-H and our school FFA programs will directly benefit from our efforts so thank you for your continued support!

Yesterday, after the parking lot emptied out, the super soil fairy, aka Mr. Southern Classic delivered!! We have emptied 6 of the 10 bags today! Thank you Alan and Alice for supporting our endeavors!! Some of these kids have really put in the effort and worked their tails off!!

Garden update: We used up all the shavings/compost from broiler project. Finished with the last of the plastic bottles this morning. Went and top scraped shavings at the fair barn to finish shavings in the last few beds. Unbagged 7 supersacks of soil in 7 class periods. Have ten more to go.

To all the bottle fairies who have helped and supported us you may cease and desist. The four bags on the door step this morning were the perfect amount to finish the last bed. Thank you to EVERYONE for donating your plastic bottles for recycling!! Im sure I missed someone in the tags but I truly don’t know who all was bringing bottles because they just magically appeared most of the time! Love hugs and appreciation from LB and the HHS ag students!!!

So we have a batch of 15 barnyard mix chicks up for discussion. They are straight run hatched 5/5/26 from black australorps, cream leg bars, gold laced Wyandottes, and naked necks covered by a black australorps or a gold laced wyandotte, or the inherited rooster. (IYKYK). For a lovely donation to our FFA program you can take all 15!
