We cater our programs to the specific topics that students are studying with their teachers. We can offer as many as 6 planetarium programs in one day, accommodating 20 to 35

students at a time. Schools are not the only places that we bring you the stars! The Stars Above planetarium is available for customized events for

Folks in the Northampton area:

The clouds did not cooperate for a lot of stargazing this past fall (unless you wake up at 4:00 a.m.). I'm adjusting our winter "Observing the Night Sky" class by offering fewer sessions in hopes that we'll have better luck with clear skies.

The winter stars are amazing! I won't drag you out in the *super* cold - bundle up, get some toe warmers, and come explore the winter stars (and Jupiter) with me!

Family-friendly astronomy celebration

Fans of astronomy can celebrate International Astronomy Day at the Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity in Florence on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The event will feature digital planetarium shows, space-themed arts and crafts, space-themed books, stomp rockets, an educational “Space Trailer,” and a large-scale model of the International Space Station built by radio host Jack Frisch.

Frisch told the Gazette in an email that the model involved more than 500 hours of build time to date and was autographed by astronaut Cady Coleman, who lived on the International Space Station for six months.

Food will be available for purchase.

The event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public.
