The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was the Super Bowl of the 2000s and we all watched it like a national holiday.
The wings. The performances. Adriana Lima, Tyra Banks, Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel becoming household names overnight. It wasn't a fashion show. It was a pop culture event.
And then it died. 2018. Cancelled. Gone.
The culture moved on. The fantasy stopped being fun. The brand became the villain of its own story.
Then 2024. It came back. Renewed focus. New presentation. Same wings, different world.
Here's the thing though. The original shows live rent-free in our heads. Not because they were perfect. They weren't. But because they were an era. The 2000s had a specific kind of maximalist, glittery, unapologetic energy and the VS show was its cathedral.
You can critique it. You should critique it. And you can still miss it.
Both things are true.
Nostalgia doesn't need your permission. It just needs wings.
