Our professor is Dr. Lawrence Gwozdz, and he oversees all facets of the saxophone studio, including the Saxophone Chamber Orchestra, all quartets, and private lessons.

USM to Host Week-Long Saxophone Program this Summer | Southern Miss Now Saxophonists and music enthusiasts from across the country will gather in Hattiesburg again this summer to study with two acclaimed saxophonists, Patrick Meghian, professor emeritus of music at Florida State University, and University of Southern Mississippi Professor Dr. Lawrence Gwozdz.

In the fall, The University of Southern Mississippi School of Music will introduce a new degree to our current offerings - Bachelor of Music in Teaching (BMT)
It is the degree plan into which all undergraduate students who want to be teachers of any kind will enter. After they complete a certain number of degree requirements, they can then choose the BME (Bachelors of Music Education) and take coursework which will lead to certification in K-12 music education OR continue along the BMT track and take coursework which will help them become studio or private lesson teachers.
