USM Broadcast Boot Camp

Tuesday night, students were able to take a tour of WDAM! They were able to see what it would be like to be an anchor or work behind the scenes. Thank you WDAM 7.

We had a great time putting together a package and getting to experience things that a true journalist would!

After hours of hard work, team 1 completed their final broadcast! They are so happy with the results and are so excited for everyone to see it!

Team 2 is wrapping up with editing after interviewing Dr. Vickie Reed! We are so excited to showcase what we learned!

USM Broadcast Bootcamper, Briunna Davis, interviews Dr. Vickie Reed about how health disparities can be dependent on where you live. With the help of her fellow students, Briunna and her team did some research to gather more information.

Team 1 is currently working on a story about the overall disparities that citizens may face in the Mississippi healthcare system. They are working hard and are excited to share the final product!

Team 2 interviewed Dr. Vickie Reed from the USM School of Public Health about the disparities in Mississippi health care based on education level!

At Harriet House, Family Nurse Practitioner Andrea McGill shares her insights on the health disparities facing African American men in Mississippi, focusing on the impacts of gender, race, and ethnicity.

Working behind the scenes, Team 4 dives into the critical issue of health disparities affecting African American men in Mississippi. Together, we aim to shed light on the challenges and advocate for change.

Sandy Evans, the videographer, and the interviewers Jaydon Koss and Kiera French take Dr. Wilbur Martin’s first-hand experience under Mississippi’s health care to piece together a story on healthcare injustice.

Assistant Teaching Professor of Sociology at USM, Dr. Micheal McLeese gives a group of students insight into the injustices of healthcare in Mississippi regarding the patient's background.

Team 7 is working hard on their news package which consists of video and a web story!
